It’s all systems go for Lee Matthews as he releases his latest video for his new self penned single “The Irish Way”and his brand new album “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” which is also the title of one of the singles on the album. Lee’s last two singles on a spectacular Double A side single release on download hit the number one spot on the charts paving the way for this much-anticipated twelve track CD. With four number one hit singles already on the album “Cotton Eye Joe”, “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive”, “Buy Me A Boat” and “Girl Next Door” and some great reworked classics including “Bang On The Ear”, “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and “Here I Go Again” its sure to be on everyone’s Christmas list.
The single “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” opened a new door for the singer-songwriter when he filmed the video in Florida USA. After the success of his double award winning smash hit “Cotton Eye Joe” and it’s groundbreaking video the singer said, “I wanted to do something different for the fans so we decided to shoot the next video in America. I am glad we did as it’s been getting loads of exposure on all the country TV channels on Sky and Ireland's TV3 featured it during my recent appearance on the 7 O’clock Show”. Lee has plenty of reason to celebrate this year. Not only did the talented singer songwriter scoop the Award for Best New Band at the start of this year at the prestigious Sunday World Country Music Awards in Dublin, but he also scooped two separate Song of the Year awards for his rewrite of the number one smash hit “Cotton Eye Joe.” 2015 couldn't have started better for Lee and his success was cemented during the summer when he chalked up his fourth #1 single this year. He also undertook a hugely successful 20-date festival tour that in tandem with his regular dance dates, took him to the major venues throughout the country were huge crowds were the order of the day. The superbly-crafted debut album “A Little Bitty Country” was also a #1 Hit on the Irish Country download chart and the young singer-songwriter is in top spirits particularly as four of his number one singles were written by himself. Self-penned songs from his debut album like “That Country Girl” and “There’s Irish In Our Eyes” are filling dance floors across the country. Lee’s version of “Cotton Eye Joe” of which he is also a co-writer was his biggest radio hit to date. It's hard to believe that its just eighteen months since Lee burst onto the scene with the massive debut single “Sadie's Got Her new Dress On” and has never looked back. With a busy diary ahead and many of Ireland’s foremost festivals booking Lee for 2016 he is certainly on the crest of a wave.
